Have you ever experienced the frustration of attracting the same negative experience into your life over and over again, and not knowing why or what to do about it?

Perhaps you keep attracting romantic relationships that never turn out the way you’d hoped they would… or business partnerships that always seem to turn sour…

Whatever it is, the technique I’m going to share with you in this article will help you destroy your destructive patterns so they never haunt you again.

To make this article more valuable to you, stop reading for a moment and find yourself an example to work with.

Close your eyes and think of an experience you had recently where someone ‘wronged’ you and you still have not forgiven them

When you’ve found one, think of at least two more times when you experienced that same kind of situation with someone else

Do this now and don’t read on until you have completed this exercise

If you did this work correctly, you’ll have just uncovered a PATTERN that you repeat in your life and probably have no idea what to do to stop repeating it. Well, I’m about to help you with that…

Unfortunately, Forgiveness Rarely Makes A Difference

In my experience, what usually ends up happening is once we forgive the person who ‘wronged’ us, another situation just like the first one appears and we find ourselves in the same place again – frustrated, upset and not knowing what we are doing to attract this negativity over and over again.

Sound familiar?

I’ll share an example from my own life:

For many years, I kept attracting business deals that would leave me feeling ‘screwed over’ by my business partners and contractors. The last time this happened was when I was getting my new company logo designed a few years ago.

A friend who owned a design company offered to do the job for me at a discounted rate. Long story short, 9 months later he had still not delivered. When I confronted him, he became defensive and the whole deal went south. I ended up losing my 50% deposit, one of my best friends and never received the logo.

Although I had forgiven all the people who had ‘screwed me over’ in the past, I was still attracting this frustrating circumstance.

Forgiving someone may restore your relationship with that person, but it’s not going to stop you attracting similar circumstances again and again in the near future.

So, how come FORGIVENESS (apparently one of the most highly ‘evolved’ things you can do) rarely makes a difference?

Because in order to forgive someone for something, you first need to RESIST what that person did and judge it as being wrong, and…

What You Resist, Persists…

So, whatever you are RESISTING in your life right now will have a nasty habit of coming back to haunt you – over and over again in the future.

Why?

Because, the things we resist are usually the same things we FEAR and because of the way the Law Of Attraction works, we always attract the things we FEAR into our lives.

For example, if you fear your partner will cheat on you, you’re most likely going to attract partners that cheat. As long as you resist the experience of ‘cheating’, you’ll attract it.

In my example, I feared being ‘screwed over’ so much, that I attracted that experience – over and over again.

So, what can we do about this dilemma? The solution is counter intuitive (as often the best solutions are).

An Alternative To Forgiveness

The best way to eliminate FEAR (and negative patterns) is to stop RESISTING your life the way that it currently is.

Resisting your life is like trying to paddle a canoe upstream, against the current. This requires a LOT more effort than padding the same canoe downstream – using the current instead of resisting the current.

So, instead of forgiving someone for ‘wronging’ you, change the way you see the thing they did and you won’t need to forgive them in the first place!

I’ll admit, this is an advanced concept and does take some practice initially, but it is 100% within your reach.

From Fear To Fun

When you quit resisting your experience of the world and the people in it, most of your fears (if not all) will disappear – almost instantly. Then, the world becomes a much more FUN place to play in, people become a lot more interesting and you become a lot happier.

To stop resisting, you need to quit seeing your experiences as wrong or bad.

If you don’t believe me just yet, humor me and try this idea on like you’d try on some clothes in a department store. You don’t have to buy them; you’re just trying them on. In the same way, I’m not asking you to believe me, just to consider this as an idea.

Allow me to explain…

Duality

Everything in the Universe has an equal and opposite charge. Black has white, day has night, up has down and the front of your hand has the back of your hand.

Are you still with me here?

This concept is often called the law of DUALITY. Isaac Newton described this phenomenon in his third law of motion as “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.”

What this means for you is that every problem you experience has an equal benefit to you. Problems cannot exist without their corresponding benefits, like up cannot exist without down.

Consider this: perhaps the reason you get upset is because you only see ONE side of the coin (the bad side) and don’t ever dig deep enough to discover the equal BENEFITS (the good side) that this problem brings to your life.

When you can authentically allow the BENEFITS you receive from your so called ‘negative’ experience to inspire you, your jaw will drop with gratitude and you’ll stop resisting, allowing blessing and good times to flow to you.

Stop Resisting It, Stop Attracting It

When I first tried this with my logo ‘problem’, I was astounded to see that there actually were just as many benefits to not having gotten my logo from my friend, as there were drawbacks:

I got a better logo elsewhere for 1/4 of the price

I learned to set powerful boundaries with a very upset man

I gained a lot of confidence in my ability to stand up for what I wanted

I discovered an awesome new graphic designer that I am going to hire in the future and save tons of money on my designs

But my BIGGEST breakthrough happened when I realized that the VERY thing I was resisting (being screwed over), was what I was actually doing to others in business.

This was a bitter pill for me to swallow. I mean, I considered myself a fair and honest businessman. However, when I looked deeper, I realized that when I negotiated in business, I often negotiated to win, sometimes without concern for whether or not the other person won too.

All I was interested in was getting the best deal for me.

Upon reflection, I realized that I was doing the very thing I hated having done to me!

When I saw this, I was horrified and shocked…

So now, here is the toughest question:

Where do you do the VERY EXACT same thing that the person you need to forgive has done to you?

This question is incredibly important. Until you can accept a trait within yourself, you’ll never be able to accept it in another and you’ll continue resisting and attracting that same trait as an experience in your life.

I know this kind of thinking is challenging, but you can do it…

I’ve witnessed a rape victim uncover where she ‘raped’ other people metaphorically. When she saw how she was just like the rapist, she broke down in tears and let go the pain of being raped. Answering this question changed her life.

After I did this exercise, I made a promise to myself that from then on, I was only going to enter into win-win business agreements.

Since then, I never again experienced feeling screwed over, and have (finally) broken the pattern of attracting those kinds of people and experiences into my world.

How To Break The Cycle Of Repeating Negative Patterns

Use this technique to quit resisting when you next experience someone ‘wronging’ you.

STEP 1: Write down exactly what happened and the exact traits the other person displayed that upset you

STEP 2: Write down where you have displayed these exact same traits with someone else

STEP 3: Write down the benefits you received from having had the experience of being ‘wronged’

STEP 4: Write down the opportunities you can create now that you’ve seen the benefits

Take a moment now and complete this exercise.

If you do the exercise completely, openly and with radical honesty, you’ll find yourself no longer resisting.

Better yet, you’ll no longer need to forgive the person, because you’ll no longer see their actions as bad.

Most importantly, you’ll stop attracting that type of experience into your life.

If you really want to lock in your personal transformation, you may even want to buy the other person a gift to thank them for bringing so many benefits into your life.

Where Else You Can Use This

This exercise is SO great because it quick and easy! With practice you’ll complete it in your head in a matter of seconds.

Use it when:

You have an argument with your lover

Your boss or colleague annoys you at work

Somebody betrays your trust

Another driver cuts in front of you in a traffic jam

Anytime you feel bad

Try this on authentically and with a commitment to making it work and I promise you a transformed life where your problems melt away and transform into gorgeous benefits.

You’ll Be Sexier!

Once you become proficient with this new mindset, you’ll notice a nice benefit: People will WANT to hang around you, do business with you and have sex with you (no kidding)!

Why?

Because EVERYONE loves being in the company of someone who does not resist them.

Having cultivated this quality in myself, I am often amazed at the incredibly powerful people who choose to hang out with me, not because of what I have accomplished or because I may be interesting to talk to, but because of the space I provide – a space where they are not blamed and can feel at home to be themselves.

Last but not least, if you’re willing to take this idea into every area of your life, you’ll begin attracting MAGIC like you will not believe…

Let’s Sum It Up

I know this is a radical concept that challenges conventional wisdom, and I know that if you read my blog regularly, you’re open enough to receive it.

I want to acknowledge you for reading this far and (hopefully) doing the exercise. It takes courage to look at yourself with such honesty. Well done!

So, let’s wrap up with a summary of what we have learned:

We all have limiting patterns that we repeat in our lives over and over again

Forgiving someone is like a band aid – it’s a temporary fix, but does not stop these patterns repeating

What you resist – persists, because we attract the things we resist into our lives

We live in a world of duality and every problem or ‘negative’ experience contains a hidden benefit(s)

We get UPSET only because we don’t see both sides of the coin (good and bad)

People who see both sides of the coin are SEXY!

Practice the 4-step exercise above and you’ll find yourself a much happier person who can attract a LOT more of what you do want into your life.

Last, but not least, if you’re willing to take this idea into every area of your life, you’ll begin attracting magic like you will not believe!

Please leave me a comment below and let me know what you learned from this article and doing the exercise.

A friend sent me this and I loved it!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1930′s 1940′s, 50′s, 60′s and early 70′s !

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds , KFC or Subway…

Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn’t open on the weekends, somehow we didn’t starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers, Bubble Gum and some bangers to blow up frogs with.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren’t overweight because……

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo Wii , X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY ,

no video/DVD films,

no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms……….WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
Lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter time…

We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th birthdays,

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn’t have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

RUGBY and CRICKET had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on MERIT

Our teachers used to hit us with canes and gym shoes and bully’s always ruled the playground at school.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

Our parents didn’t invent stupid names for their kids like ‘Kiora’ and ‘Blade’ and ‘Ridge’ and ‘Vanilla’

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL !

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

P.S. The big type is because your eyes are not too good at your age anymore…

This is the post where I track my personal weight loss program during the month of February 2009…

THE GOAL: 6-pack abs in 1 month

THE METHOD: High Intensity Cardio 6 days a week. Slow weight training 3 days a week. Fat and Protein diet with lots of water…

Day 28 – The Last Day!

Found a gym and worked out hard. I can’t believe that I 28 days have passed already. Feels like only 2 weeks since I started this mission. Well, I failed to reach my goal of a 6-pack. I’m not dissappointed becasue I learned so much about nutrition and how my body works. I lost about 3% body fat in total, maintained most of my muscle mass and reduced my weight by 2 kg. My love handles are almost gone and I can see the beginnings of my 6-pack, which feels good.

So what next? I’m going to take a break while I’m in South Africa, although I’ll keep doing cardio and some body weight exercises to maintain my current physique. Then, in April, I’ll get back on another program to focus stictly on building muscle with 3 primary ‘multi joint exercises – deadlifts, bench press and squats…

I’ll create another pose to track that then.

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me. Your support spurred me on and updating this post every day kept me focused and committed.

I have answered some of your questions in the comments below.

Till next time, keep fit!

Day 27

Ran on the beach for the first time in ages… It’s hot here, so I hope I burned more calories than usual. Cannot track my body fay % here as I left my scales in London! No space in my my luggage for those…

Day 26

Flew to Cape Town, South Africa, so no gym today

Day 25

Went for a 30 minute jog on the beach in Cape Town. What a difference to the gym! Sun, sea, bikinis. Now this is the way to work out… Am having to plan my meals more now that I am in South Africa visiting my family. I don’t have all the ususal tools and foods I know from the UK. For example, I don’t have body fat scales. I brought my little kitchen scales with me to weight my portions, but the foods here all have different compositions from the UK, so I’m going to have to make some adjustments. Feeling good and my belly has definitely shrunk in the last 3 weeks. No sign of a 6-pack yet and the way I am going, it looks like I will have to wait a little longer for it than I had hoped. I’m fine with that and still enjoying my progress.

Day 24

No gym today. Had a long flight to South Africa and ate the crap on the plane because I did not prepare enough food to the journey due to a late night last night. LESSON: Order an Asian Vegetarian meal when booking your next flight and you’ll get some healthy green veg and a tasty meal. The woman sitting next to me was having one and it looked yummy and healthy.

Day 23

Decided to do weights in the gym today instead of tomorrow as I am flying to South Africa tomorrow. Was a good workout and all my numbers are up, indicating that I am stronger. This is good!

Day 22

I was super strong in the gym this morning. I ate lots of carbs yesterday on my carb-up day and this reflected in my strength increase. Did 40 minutes cardio instead on 60 and feel good about it. Looking forward to weighing myself on my body fat scales at 6pm tonight. I’m on the final sprint now…

Week 3 Stats

In the table below, BF = Body Fat %, MM = Muscle Mass.

Week 3 ended and I have lost 1kg of muscle. My body fat averaged out at 18.8% (0.1% higher than last week) and my muscle mass has dropped 1kg, so week 3 was not nearly as successful as I had hoped. I thought a lot about why this is and I have come to the conclusion that I am doing too much cardio. For week 4 I am cutting my cardio down to 500 Calories a day from 750. I believe that this will make a difference, especially with my measuring my food so accurately now. All in all, I’m pleased with my progress, even though it’s not as much as I had hoped.

Day 21 – No Day Off – Carb up day.

Went to the gym today because I skipped yesterday. Had a great dinner with friends and ate lots of yummy mashed potato. God I miss yummy food! Two people at dinner commented that I had lost weight. The last time they saw me was 2 weeks ago. My love handles have almost disappeared and although it looks like I am still a while away from a 6-pack, I feel satisfied with the progress I am making.

Day 20

Woke up in a hotel without a gym this morning so no cardio for me. I’ll do it tomorrow even though I fell I should have been more committed to doing it today… Only managed to eat protein shakes for most of the day today as I was in a film studio filming for Samantha Backman’s “Bloody Brilliant Life” Satellite TV Show. Noticed the body fat scales are not saying nice things about my body fat today… Jumped up to 19.6% and it says I lost 1 kg of muscle overnight. I don’t believe it. I think it is misreading due to my lack of solid food today. Will measure again tomorrow.

Day 19

Hurt my neck in the gym today. I think I pulled a neck muscle while doing Hammer Curls. I finished my session despite the pain, because I did not want to fall behind. Glad I did. Been sleeping a bit today to relieve the pain. Body Fat was 18.5 last night. It seems to be stabling out. Now that I am measuring my diet to the gram, I think I’ll begin seeing the effects within the next 7 days. Am looking forward to it. My love handles are going fast and my stomach is flattening out. Sometime soon, I’ll feel like its appropriate to post a photograph!

Day 18

Great cardio today. Had some amazing ideas on the Elliptical machine. IO am really noticing my mental alertness increasing the longer I do this. It’s awesome.Bodyfat was 18.3% last night. Still got a way to go to get to sub 10%. Anyhow, I’m not stopping. This is too much fun and updating this post every day holds me accountable – a very valuable lesson…

Day 17

Had a great upper body weight training morning. Arrived home energized. I am amazed at how much more energy I have, just 2 weeks in. I can feel it tangibly. I am noticing myself being able to sustain more extended focus and and generally feeling very happy. It feels good to be doing something with such discipline for myself, even if the results are not what I had hoped yet. Looking forward to weighting myself on my body fat scales again tonight.

Day 16

Another cardio day today. Had a few great business ideas while on the Elliptical machine… Am being so strict with my diet and loving being able to measure foods. Dropped 1% bodyfat from yesterday. Down to 18.5%. Not a huge change, but things are at least moving downwards! You’d think that all this counting of grams would be boring, but I’m loving being able to adjust. I’m like my own little experiment…

Day 15

Had a great workout. A little stronger than last week. Got home and measured my protein powder to the gram. Spent 2 hours last night using www.fitday.com to measure exactly what to put into every meal I eat this week so that I get the exact nutrition I need. Am very excited. The best £15 I ever spent was on my digital kitchen scales. I feel in control of my nutrition now, rather than just guessing. This way I can accurately adjust and measure the results with my Body Fat scales. This is also turning into a good business lesson for me.

Week 2 Stats

In the table below, BF = Body Fat %, MM = Muscle Mass.

So far, I’m not seeing the improvement I had hoped for 2 weeks into this program. I think it is because I have been eating too much as a result of my old inaccurate food scales and not counting my fish oil as fat content in my meal. This week, I’ll be weighting EVERYTHING I eat and measuring it’s contents to make sure I accurately meet my targets of 53g protein and 23g fat with each meal. Sundays, I have 53g protein and 74g Carbs with each meal.

Day 14 – Day Off

Went to the movies and did my Carbohydrate load up today. Also bought a digital kitchen scale so I can measure my food to the gram. This was a godsend and I realized I have been eating too much, because my old analog scale was so inaccurate. Also, went onto www.fitday.com and discovered that my fish oil contains 9 grams of fat, which I take with every meal! I was not counting this in my fat count, so I have been eating 45 grams too much fat every day. Fitday’s website allows you to track how many grams of everything you eat every day by entering in the foods you eat. It is a godsend.

Day 13

Tired in the gym this morning. Was awake 3 hours before going, so I had not eaten for 3 hours before gymming, so my body was craving energy. Doing cardio on a full stomach is a waste of time as you burn far less calories as doing cardio on an empty stomach. Made a hug omelette for breakfast. Had a dinner party this evening and indulged in 2 glasses of wine. Naughty me…

Day 12

Full of beans this morning and got up early! Cardio was easy – did 40 mins on the elliptical machine and 20 mins on the bicycle. Upper body workout was fun. Going to have aquick nap now and then back to work. I made a new discovery in the gym today: protein farts scare people away very quickly… Next, I have to figure out how to maintain my gym routine while travelling. On 4th March, I leave home at 4am to go to Heathrow and then arrive in South Africa at 10pm, so not going to be able to gym that day.

Day 11

Jeez, it was tough getting out of bed this morning. I felt like someone hot me over the head with a sleeping pill. I slept till 09:30 then then ran to the gym, not after first forgetting my water bottle and then having to turn around half way to get it (and then I remembered I DID have money in my back pocket to buy a new bottle of water -doh !). Anyways, I was tired in the gym today. Burned another 750 calories. My body fat percentage increased by 1% last night. If you know anything about body fat measuring, it is notoriously unreliable and fluctuates, but I couldn’t help wondering if yesterday’s email from my friend planted a seed in my head which then had my body store MORE fat! Whatever. I’m over it and I’m back on track. Feeling energized and running out of hours in the day to work, because I all I seem to do is cook, drink water, go to the bathroom, type these blogs and exercise! Today I’m writing a sales letter for my new website that helps alcoholics quit drinking using an incredible hypnosis product. Wish me luck…

Day 10

Got an email from a friend saying that cardio is the worst way to lose fat. He’s not wrong, because cardio can cause muscle to break down and muscle is what speeds up the metabolism to burn more fat. I’ve done enough research in this area to know that my gym program I am on is going to work, but I let his opinion get to me and I’ve been feeling a little doubtful of my gym program all morning. As a result, my gym workout was only average today. I’m going to see this program through to the end of the time I committed to (1 month) and then measure the results. That’s the trick in body sculpting, business and life – measure, measure, measure… At least at the end of the month I’ll be able to see the figures and know if this program worked for me or not. Then I can adjust if necessary. I feel better just having written this.

Day 9

Cardio day today… Felt my strongest since day one. The Elliptical machine just didn’t seem to stress me out at all! Perhaps it the new JoeSatriani CD I am listening to… I really want to see my body fat from 3% this week. In the past, it seems that most of the progress I have made is always towards the end of my gym programs, so I want to speed it up this time and get my body into turbo fat burning mode. Drinking 2 cups of green tea a day. Taking disgusting cod liver oil 5 times a day and a 1000mg vitamin C tablet with each meal. Burned 800 calories at the gym today.

Day 8

Upper Body workout and cardio today. After a 3 day seminar with not much sleep I gave in to my inner dialogue this morning and slept till 9:30am. Got to the gym by 10am and now its midday and I’m starting some work… I needed the break. I’ve gone 2 weeks without a weekend and I was knackered. Anyhow, this morning I burned 750 calories via somecardio and then did my upper body weight training routine. Feeling strong and back in the swing of things. My belly feels bloated and although it does not seem to me that I am losing any body fat, my scales tell me otherwise, so I’m just going to trust the scales.

Week 1 Stats

In the table below, BF = Body Fat %, MM = Muscle Mass.

Day 7 – Day off

Did not measure body fat today as I was in a seminar all day.

Day 6

Had to be at the seminar at 8am this morning, and then discovered that my gym only opens at 9:30am on the weekends! Daft! So, I hunted down a Virgin Active near the seminar which opened at 8am and missed the first 90 minutes of the seminar. It was crunch time. I committed to the gym program and I also really wanted to attend this seminar. I decided my gym commitment was more important. Glad I kept my integrity together. Workout was only 40 minutes long. Burned 500 calories. Unfortunately, because of the seminar schedule I did not eat my 5 meals today. Only got 4 in and very erratically. Anyways, can’t always be perfect… Feeling happy and energized. As long and tough as this program is, I am really loving the exercise and the endorphin release… Did not measure body fat today as I was in a seminar all day.

Day 5

Doing a seminar this weekend, so was up all night cooking and had to get up extra early this morning after 4 hours sleep, so was tired today. My shins are sore from jogging to the gym. Otherwise feeling great, energized and proud of myself for sticking to it.

Day 4

Overslept an hour because I only got to bed at 3am. Felt a little more tired during today’s cardio session. Decided to cut 20 minutes off my ‘in the gym’ time by jogging to the gym and back (10 minutes each way). Nice to get outside, even if its cold. My knees are playing up from the jogging. I have never been able to jog for more than a week before my knees collapse and force me to walk. If anyone knows how to help me with this, I’d appreciate it. Feeling energized and healthy today. Noticed that my double chin is beginning to look smaller! Have a seminar tomorrow (Fri, Sat, Sun 9am – 11pm), so will need to figure out eating andgymming while all that is going on. It’s going to be interesting…

Day 3

Boy did I struggle to get out of bed this morning. Snoozed my alarm and fought an internal war with myself to make myself go into the cold (my car door frosted shut) and jog 10 minutes to the gym. My workout was good. Could not get onto the Squat Rack, so used the Smith Machine instead and I didn’t push my squats to total muscle failure. Anyhow, good enough for now. I’m pleased as the scale says my body fat is down and my muscle mass is up. Feeling energized and drinking lots of water. Starting to believe that I might actually have a 6-pack in a month. WOW!

Day 2

Overslept by 30 minutes. Adele says I snoozed my alarm, although I don’t remember that. I must learn to calm my mind down before I go to bed. So many great things going on in my life right now, my mind races thinking about possibilities as soon as I lay down…

Did 1 hour of cardio today on the Elliptical machine, treadmill and bicycle. Burned 760 Calories. Listened to a great teleseminar while in the gym and this made time pass faster.

Noticed I was a little less energized than yesterday after the session. So far, so good. Feeling fit and healthy already. My body is thanking me for eating healthy (thanks to my good friend AndreaAlbright). Andrea has lots of free weight loss information on her website which I HIGHY recommend you check out. Her advice is targeted at women wanting to lose weight in a healthy way, but it is TOTALLY applicable to men too. I learned a lot. Visit Andrea’s weight loss site here.

Day 1

Wow, I actually got out of bed at 5:45 this morning and went to the gym for Day 1 of my Fat Loss plan. The reason this was such a spectacular victory for me was that I only had like 3 hours of sleep last night and my internal dialogue this morning was SO LOUD when my alarm went off! My little voice kept telling me how I could go to gym later. Then the other voice of reason would pipe up saying that I needed to start the way I intended to finish.

Anyways, got to the gym and burned 750 calories on the Elliptical machine and the bicycle machine. Then went into a 30 minute upper body workout (chest, shoulders, triceps).

Walked out of the gym feeling SO proud of myself and surprisingly energised considering the amount of exercise I had just done. Day one seemed easy. Lets hope that the rest of the 30 days carries on like this.

Last month, I had a problem.

I flew to Egypt for two weeks on a windsurfing trip, but I ended up in bed.

No, I wasn’t sick – I was addicted…

A friend asked me to review a book called “Outrageous Mastery” by Sasha Xarrian (who I introduced you to last week) and I literally could not put it down.

The book was so gripping that I actually sacrificed windsurfing to read this book. If you know me well, you’ll know that hardly ANYTHING can tear me away from windsurfing.

Anyway, I want to HIGHLY recommend that you buy and read this book in 2009.

One thing was in Sasha’s favour though – she is a true MASTER Manifestor, a real pro with the Law Of Attraction.

Using her powerful Law Of Attraction techniques, Sasha manifested OWNING and living in her own 9 bedroom house only one month later.

She used these same techniques to manifest $500,000, rebuild her family, and get her life on track.

If you want to know how she did it, make sure you read her new book, “Outrageous Mastery“.

Her story so fascinated and inspired me, that I called up Sasha’s office and asked one of her staff how I could help them promote the book.

During our call, they told me that they have over 100 pages of unsolicited testimonials on their website, so clearly, I’m not alone in loving this book.

I hope you enjoy the recommendation:

In it's simplest form, a designer life is a life that you customize to meet your ideal criteria in every area of life.

Is getting the life of your dreams turning out to be harder than you thought it would be?

If you’re still dreaming of one day living the good life, you’ve possibly fallen prey to the single most common mistake I see people making when creating their designer life.

Before I dive in though, allow me to explain how I define a ‘designer life’.

In it’s simplest form, a designer life is a life that you customize to meet your ideal criteria in every area of life. As I define it, it includes having the freedom to do whatever you choose whenever you choose. There’s more to it, but for the sake of simplicity, let’s use this definition for the moment.

The Biggest Mistake People Make Is…

WAITING…

Waiting is the killer of all great ideas and probably the most common mistake that stops people taking action towards creating their dream life now and actually fulfilling their dreams.

“Waiting is only one measure above death” – Werner Erhard

Although its great to dream of one day owning a mansion overlooking the sea, a red Ferrari, sporting 6-pack abs and being married to Mr Right, you’re probably not going to get all of those things in the next 7 days.

So, here’s how you can you begin living your designer life today, without waiting for your dreams to arrive in the future?

Ask yourself this, “What is it about the things I want that make me feel good?”

Continuing the example above, you may answer:

being able to see the sea from my bedroom

having a car that turns heads and thrills me to drive

having a healthy, fit body

having a loving relationship

Now, take a moment and do the math. When you add up the monthly cost for you to actually do and have the things that make you feel good, I expect you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

You can have all of the things that make you feel good now, without having to own a mansion or a Ferrari. I’m not suggesting that you give up on your dreams. I am suggesting that you can afford your dream lifestyle right now in some shape or form and you don’t have to wait for it.

So, get busy living it now, rather that waiting for your dream life to arrive someday in the future.

Watch the video below.

I interviewed this man earlier this year. He’s 70 years old and decided to stop waiting and follow his dream of sailing around the world. He also happens to be my father…

Watch this video, it’s inspiring…

So remember, your dream lifestyle is closer than you think, if you quit waiting for it.

Till next week, keep Living (with a capital L)

Your partner in success,

If you’re happy staying ignorant about the effect the media is having on you, then do not read this post… It’s controversial, and also educational.

Have you been watching the news lately?

Are you feeling a little uncertain about your future because the banks are breaking; financial markets are crashing and the headlines say that the world is going to hell in a hand basket?

Maybe you find yourself worrying about your future, or are considering cancelling your holiday because you’re not sure if your next paycheck is a sure thing…

Well, I’d like to share a very powerful strategy for ensuring that no matter what happens in the world, you remain in the driver’s seat – positive, powerful and prosperous.

Credit Crisis? What Credit Crisis?

I found out about the credit crunch a few days after the rest of the world did. Because I haven’t owned a television in 5 years and I don’t read the newspaper (unless I’m in it ), I’m often unaware of what is going on in the world until I need to know.

Now, you might be thinking that this is a little irresponsible of me. After all, as responsible citizens, surely it’s our duty to stay up to date on current affairs, is it not?

Well, allow me to share my reasoning behind my selective ignorance.

Becoming the Gatekeeper

Having spent years studying how the mind works, I’m very aware that 1) either I am programming my mind or 2) I am allowing somebody or something else to program it for me…

If you are watching the television, listening to the radio and reading the newspapers, chances are that YOU are not deciding what is going into your mind – you’re allowing the media to decide for you!

No matter how many times you tell yourself that you are smart and can discern between fact and fiction – feeding yourself with negativity is impacting you subconsciously – without you even noticing.

And as you know, the mass media makes most of its money off bad news, because bad news is what sells newspapers, keeps you glued to the TV screen and listening to the radio.

In short, bad news is what makes money.

When was the last time you watched the news and felt fantastic afterwards? Probably not often, right?

We’ve been lied to. Society has led us to believe that being informed is critical to our success. Well, I’d argue that this depends on the kind of information you inform yourself with.

I broadly categorize TWO kinds of information: ‘Relevant information’ and ‘Irrelevant information’.

Most of the information in the news is totally irrelevant and does not support you becoming a more successful person. Yet, most of us soak it up as if it were air, essential to our survival.

I’m here to suggest that perhaps – just perhaps, you don’t need the news to be successful.

If you’ve attended one of my Designer Life seminars, you’ll already know that your THOUGHTS and EMOTIONS determine your ACTIONS. In turn, your ACTIONS determine your RESULTS in life.

So, if you are constantly feeding your mind fear driven thoughts and emotions (from exposure to the mass media), your ACTIONS and therefore your RESULTS are going to reflect this. You’re going to make choices based on fear, rather than making choices based upon where you DO want to go and what you REALLY WANT from life.

By making choices designed to avoid some kind of fear or pain, you actually give your subconscious mind an instruction to move you closer towards that fear and pain, because your mind cannot conceive a negative.

e.g. Try NOT to think of yourself lying in a hammock listening to your favorite CD with the cool breeze moving through your hair… You had to picture it to NOT think about it, right?

So, by watching the news, reading the newspapers and listening to the radio, you are actually instructing your subconscious mind to show you more of what you read and hear on the news – the things you actually don’t want…

Given that most news broadcasts are filled with bad news, you’re definitely not helping yourself like this.

Are you beginning to see what a powerful effect the media has on your mind and your life?

AND no matter how smart you are, do not underestimate its impact on your subconscious mind. Here’s why…

Contrary to popular opinion, you are not in control of your mind…

My wife was sharing our ‘media fr.ee’ way of life with a colleague last week. Her colleague was shocked to hear that we don’t keep up with the news and responded by saying that she should learn to control her mind and just block out the information that was negative.

Yes, that would be a great idea if it were actually that simple, but in order to choose what information is negative or not, you first have to READ it, WATCH it or LISTEN to it!

Unfortunately, just by reading or listening to the news, you FORCE your mind to make PICTURES in your imagination of the things you’re reading about or listening to. Your mind has to make these pictures in order to understand the content you are reading or listening to.

As you’ll remember from last week’s email, your mind is programmed by the pictures you feed it and these pictures tend to become your reality.

So, just by skimming the news, your subconscious mind is absorbing all the things you are reading.

Unless, of course, you’re watching TV…

When you’re watching TV, your mind doesn’t have to make up pictures, because the television conveniently provides the pictures for you.

Whether you like it or not, the pictures you watch on television enter your subconscious mind subliminally and over time, with repeated exposure, these images become programmed deep within your subconscious and eventually manifest in your reality.

This would be a great thing if all the television we watched was empowering and inspiring…

However, continuous exposure to this kind of negative programming has to manifest itself in your life in some form, through the actions you take, in your financial life or in your body (in the form of ill health).

The effect of our programming is compounded when you consider that we are all vibrational beings i.e., that we are all made up of vibrating energy and we attract circumstances that match our vibrations we subconsciously emit.

If we are subconsciously emitting the vibration of the news we see on TV, that’s what we’ll attract.

My intention is not to put down the mass media, but rather to drive home the point that if you are not consciously programming your mind, the media probably is…

And the more you let the media decide how you feel and act, the more you’ll end up creating a life that you actually don’t want…

Do you really need to know the daily blow by blow updates on the details of which bank just collapsed and how many people were made redundant this week or how the property prices are set to collapse etc?

Of course not…

I’m not suggesting that you stay totally ignorant of what’s going on in the world, but I am suggesting that YOU become the GATEKEEPER to your mind i.e. YOU decide what you allow into your mind and what you won’t allow into your mind, rather than letting the media decide for you.

How To Stay In The Driver’s Seat

My recommendation is not a subtle one.

I wholeheartedly encourage you to take the plunge and throw out your TV, cancel your newspaper subscription and put the radio in the attic (just in case you hear that I’m going to be interviewed on it!) – at least until you’ve given your mind some time to recover from years of mental abuse…

I challenge you to try it for just 1 month.

If after 1 month, you find your life has not improved dramatically, feel free to bring the TV back, but I doubt you’ll want to when you experience the benefits of not having one.

Seriously, by cleaning up your mind like this, you’ll be cleaning up your life and you’ll create the space to fill it with inspiring content – content that actually makes a difference.

When YOU begin feeding your mind (instead of the media feeding it), you become liberated, a free thinker, and nobody can control you without you consciously giving them permission to.

Then life becomes really fun because YOU get to choose what your mind is programmed with and ultimately, where your life goes.

Suggestion For A Liberated Mind

Assuming you do decide to take me up on my challenge and throw out the TV, here are some suggestions for how to fill your time now that the TV, Radio and newspapers are gone.

1) Create a fitness routine. Regular exercise makes your brain release endorphins, which are chemicals that make you feel happy. Not to mention all the other positive side effects of exercise.

2) Create a morning ritual to ensure that you begin every day feeling inspired. I listen to my Relaxation For Manifestation every morning to help me feed my mind with powerful pictures of my goals. This is a great way to consciously CHOOSE what pictures you want to feed your mind.

By the way, if you ever worry about money, that is a sure sign that you are carrying around limiting beliefs about your ability to earn. Make sure you listen to the Relaxation For Wealth, which I designed to subconsciously re-program your mind to attract wealth.

3) Begin filling your mind with information that actually benefits you. Try Success University for an amazing personal development library or Lumosity for some Brain games that the whole family can play and that will make your mind sharper and your memory more powerful.

4) Adele, my wife, has a ‘get up and go show’ every morning – a selection of music, dancing and general frivolity. By the time she arrives at work she is bouncing off the walls. How can you create your own morning routine that sets you up for success?

5) Do the things that you enjoy. Begin a project that inspires you. I met a woman the other day so excited about restoring her 1964 Cadillac. What’s your passion?

Doing activities you love will positively contribute to your quality of life and peace of mind – no matter what the financial climate of the day…

Take It Slow

Lastly, here are some guidelines for maximizing your chance of a total recovery from negative thought viruses.

- Before you go to bed at night, find some time to focus on being grateful for EVERYTHING you have in your life right now.

- Don’t hang around people who talk about how bad things are. Find positive people to rub off on you.

- Be generous, to yourself and to others. I recommend tithing 10% of your income to a charity that you believe in. Its counterintuitive in this ‘financial climate’, but it tends to open you up emotionally to let abundance in.

- Treat your friend’s opinions with a pinch of salt until you have actually THOUGHT about them and decided whether or not you want to see your world in their way.

- When you look in the mirror in the morning, tell yourself how much you love yourself. This will begin building your self image and when you love yourself, nothing that anyone says on the news can affect you for long.

The Future

As global citizens, we need to stop picturing how bad things are in the world and start focusing on how we want the world to be.

Now, more than ever, is the time to begin spreading possibility into your world and who better to start it than you and I.

NEW WORLD DAY

So, in the spirit of making my own difference, I am declaring the 29 October 2008, NEW WORLD DAY. Whose authority do I have to do this? Only my own, and I’m asking that you join me for 1 minute on 29 October 2008 at 16:00 GMT (17:00 South Africa Time, 08:00 California Time) to visualize our world as YOU’D LIKE it to be.

Put that date and time in your calendars and I’ll send you an email an hour before to remind. If you’re not on this mailing list and received this email forwarded by someone else, go to www.designer-life.com and sign up.

Please help me spread the word by forwarding this email to as many people as you feel inspired to.

Petr Muzik is an extraordinary man. Not only is he my father, but he has just returned from fulfilling his life long dream – to sail around the world on his yacht, ‘Shoestring’.

For many years, my dad had a goal of sailing around the world. He built three yachts in our back yard as I was growing up. His last yacht, ‘Shoestring 3’, took him 15 years to build, between raising a family and running a business.

Some people thought Petr would never set sail, but in 2005, my dad set to sea for what would become a three year epic journey that changed his life forever.

Tragedy struck one month out to sea when Roy, my step brother, was killed in a motorcycle accident and my dad had to turn around and sail one month back to Cape Town for the funeral. However, by the time he arrived in Cape Town, he had to postpone his trip for another year, waiting for the trade winds to blow again.

Having sold his house and car to go sailing around the globe, my Dad and his partner May, lived aboard Shoestring in Cape Town harbor until the trade winds returned one year later.

Undeterred, they left Cape Town for South America, traveled through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean and on to New Zealand and Indonesia. From there, he crossed the Indian Ocean where his boat was shipwrecked in a coral atoll called Cocos Keeling.

In the middle of the night, anchored in a small bay in paradise, the wind changed and threw Shoestring onto a coral reef. Water flooded the boat and Shoestring began to sink. Miraculously, there was a boat anchored nearby who had a generator and a pump (Shoestring’s pumps could not cope with the rate of water coming in) and came to the rescue. During the shipwreck, the rudder had broken off and the propeller was so damaged that Petr had to cut it off with a hacksaw. Things were not looking good. Shoestring had sustained intense damage and was now left with a hole in the side of the boat, no propeller, no rudder and a bent keel!

Again undeterred, my dad pulled the boat into shallow water and waited for the tide to go out. He then had a 6 hour window in which to repair the holes in the hull. Amazingly, with the help of some fellow yachtsmen, they slowed the leaking down to a manageable level. Now, all they needed was a rudder and they could limp home across the Indian Ocean.

Miraculously, one of my Dad’s crew found an old catamaran rudder lying in a bush on the coral atoll!!! What are the chances? It was as if god had reached down and placed the rudder there just for ShoestringDad attached the rudder to Shoestring and sailed for 30 days across the Indian Ocean, finally completing his amazing trip in December 2007. The sailing community put him on the cover of Sailing Magazine, acknowledging his accomplishment.

The moral of this story in the words of my father: “If you have a dream, just do it!”

Watch this fascinating video interview with my dad and hear the story from the horse’s mouth with photographs too.
